Fiji Village

Visit Soso Village

Immerse yourself in authentic Fijian culture with a visit to Soso, the largest village in the Yasawa Islands. Just two islands away, Soso offers a unique opportunity to experience daily life in a contemporary Fijian community and connect with the people who call this beautiful part of the world home.

As you step off the boat and enter the village, there’s a gentle sense of peace, a feeling of slowing down, breathing easier, and being welcomed with genuine warmth. Your guide will show you through the village, including key places that are central to community life such as the church and the local school, while sharing insights into the customs and history of Soso.

Soso Village is led by Tui Naviti (village chief) and is made up of traditional clans, known as mataqali. Many villagers work in nearby resorts, while others fish, farm, and gather coconuts to take to the Lautoka markets each week. Daily life here is simple and community-centred, with families tending their gardens and enjoying the ocean’s abundance.

During scheduled tours, the women of the village set up a small handicraft market where guests are welcome to browse and purchase souvenirs if they wish to bring something home.

Village tours operate daily and can be arranged with our Activities Team. The tour requires a minimum of four guests and includes a scenic 20-minute boat ride to the village. Please note there is a FJD 4 landing fee per person, payable on arrival at the village.

Moments etched into our guestbook

“Wonderful family holiday for 7 nights! We were lucky enough to snorkel with the majestic manta rays and spend time on the shady deck with beach and pool views. The divers enjoyed exploring a small wreck, coral walls, reef sharks, turtles and beautiful swim-through caverns. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend to adventurous spirits – there’s something for everyone!“

“There are so many activities available everyday so it’s impossible to be bored! The Mantaray snorkelling was the highlight for me, it was a magical experience. The activities team Sak, Seni and Niko were especially helpful in making the activities fun and enjoyable. We did the manta ray snorkelling, sunset tubing and the Kava tasting and enjoyed all of them thanks to the staff!“

Rachael

“Our favourite island! The staff are truly the best in Fiji – Sak, Jerry and Enny, we’ll miss you! They made our stay so special with endless activities, amazing manta ray snorkelling (run ethically and with respect), and a memorable village tour. The 32-bed dorm was clean and cleverly divided into rooms of four for extra privacy. Food was tasty with plenty of choice – the lamb shank was a standout! We definitely recommend staying here.“

“Amazing 2-night stay in the 32-bed dorm! The room was clean and cleverly designed, feeling more like a 4-bed dorm. The team were incredible, so welcoming, friendly and really made our stay special. Highlights were the sunset tube cruise and an unforgettable snorkelling tour over vibrant corals and countless fish. Even without manta rays, it was still amazing. Our guide Nico made us feel safe, shared games and farewelled us with bracelets. We’d definitely recommend and can’t wait to return. Vinaka!“

“Lovely resort with all the expected amenities. Reef snorkelling in front of the resort and trips available for divers or people wanting to see the Mantarays. Large beachfront units with balconies and screened windows. Other activities but charges for everything where staff are involved. Good breakfasts and lunches but dinners not quite up to expectations.“
